Halifax, NS – Atlantic Canada’s largest boat show returned to Halifax Exhibition Centre last week February 6th through 9th. The Halifax International Boat Show, which has more than 40 years of history in the region, once again featured a sold-out show floor with the largest and most sought-after brands of recreational watercraft and equipment from across the region.

“Even with some tricky winter weather the first two days of the show, crowds came out through the weekend to bring us some great results,” said Scott Sprague, Event Manager.

This year’s show features included programming for children which brought families out for a colouring contest on Saturday, visits from Mermaids on Saturday and Sunday and a touch tank from the Discovery Centre with marine life. A visit from a falconer with his hawks as part of the Develop Nova Scotia Waterfront experience added greatly to excitement.

The return of Transport Canada’s Office of Boating Safety meant that Nova Scotians were able to pick up their copy of the Safe Boating Guide. The New Boater Center had well-attended workshops providing great hands-on experience for novices on anchoring, knots, leaving and returning to the dock, navigation and safety. The Presentation series and a variety of informative sessions including Nova Scotia history and treasure hunting, search and rescue, whales and seabirds and adapted waterskiing kept people interested.

Congratulations to winners at the show, including those who entered the popular Facebook photo contest and other contests sponsored by Q104, Mermaid Marine, the Binnacle, and White Point Beach Resort.

Exhibitors were overall very pleased with the event:

“It started out icy but the Halifax International Boat Show 2020 quickly turned into a fantastic show. Great to see so many smiling faces and we cannot wait for summer.” – Tara Mills, Seamasters (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia)

“Best show for unit sales ever!” – Zack Green of Mahone Marine (Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia)
