St. John’s, NL – This Friday and Saturday will mark the 6th biennial return of the North Atlantic Fish & Workboat Show, at Mile One Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.  Considered one of Canada’s largest events for the commercial marine industry, the all-encompassing show features boats, marine services and equipment, supplies and safety gear for commercial fishermen and other workboats.

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will give remarks at the Atlantic Canada Marine Industries Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony tomorrow during the show. The ceremony will be held at the Navigator booth (#302) at 2:00 p.m. At that time, three new members will be inaugurated into the Atlantic Canada Marine Industries Hall of Fame, which pay a lasting tribute to those who have made valuable contributions in any sector of the marine industry in three categories: Mariner, Processor, and Builder.

Presented in partnership with the Navigator Magazine and produced by Master Promotions Ltd., the event welcomes thousands of professionals, appealing specifically to those who make a living in, on, or around the water. Products on display will include boats, fishing equipment, engines, supplies, safety gear, fish processing machinery, technology, and everything in between.

After a record-breaking edition in 2016, featuring more than 100 exhibitors and nearly 4,000 qualified visitors over the course of two days, this year’s event is anticipated to draw even larger crowds and build on previous success.

Some other highlights to watch for at this year’s event:

  • Visitors and exhibitors are invited to a reception on Friday at Club One, starting at 7:00 p.m. featuring the Kelly-Ann Evans band, networking opportunities, finger foods and refreshments. A limited number of tickets are available at the Navigator booth in the show.
  • An interactive Passport Program will be offered to the first 2,000 show visitors. Simply pick up a ballot upon entry, collect 5 stamps from program sponsors on the show floor, and enter to win a prize bundle worth over $4,000.00! More information online here and at the event.

Registration is $20 at the door. Members of the media are offered complimentary passes for the event – please contact kstilwell@mpltd.ca to reserve in advance.
