Halifax, NS – Atlantic Canada’s premier motorcycle event took place this past weekend, March 3-5, 2017 at Halifax Exhibition Centre. Back for its fourth edition, Motorcycle and Powersport Atlantic was once again a huge success, with its strongest attendance in the history of the show. On the back of a huge Saturday, attendance pushed over the 9,000 mark, finishing up at 9,187 for the weekend. Some photos from the weekend are available on the show’s Facebook page, here.

“This show has consistently been well-supported by the powersport community and this year was no different,” said Scott Sprague, Show Manager. “The consumer appetite for buying bikes was extremely high, resulting in an extraordinary number of sales right on the show floor. Reports from both visitors and exhibitors were overwhelmingly positive. We couldn’t be happier!”

The 2017 edition included some new and exciting show features, including the Ink ‘n Iron Tattoo Competition, which had over 40 entrants and was a crowd favourite. One trophy was given out for each of seven categories and the winning tattoo artists were as follows:

Best Large Colour – Matt Asbury
Best Large Black & Gray – Kirt Silver
Best Small Colour – Kirt Silver
Best Small Black & Gray – Kurtis Worth
Best Full Sleeve – Kirt Silver
Best Back – Kirt Silver
Best Realism – Kirt Silver

Additional show features included a Custom Corner with pin-striping demos throughout the weekend; motorcycle training for kids aged 6-12 with the Nova Scotia Off Road Riders Association (sponsored by Honda Canada), which was well received by youth getting their feet wet; and Biker Games hosted by Q104, with Johan Devirus as Friday night’s “Ring Around the Rosie” winner, Steve Lennox as Saturday’s “Beans in Basket winner”, and Derek Archibald as Sunday’s “Keg Roll” winner. A meet & greet with Grand Prix Winner Michelle Duff also occurred on Saturday afternoon. The live tattooing that took place throughout the weekend was also extremely successful, with people getting some great ink from the start of the show on Friday until the close of the show on Sunday.

A Show & Shine also took place as part of this year’s show. There were many popular bikes among the participants, but the biggest crowd pleaser was Nick Lowe’s 1978 Honda CB550, which received the Show & Shine People’s Choice Award.

Congratulations to Elspeth Kinney, the 2017 door prize winner. Elspeth has won a $100 gift certificate from Pro Cycle, two nights of accommodation at the Dundee Resort and Golf Club in Cape Breton, compliments of Motorcycle Tour Guide, plus a $200 credit toward a Motorcycle Safety Course from Safety Services Nova Scotia. Thanks to all who entered.
