Charlottetown, PE – It was a busy weekend at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown, where thousands flocked to the PEI Provincial Home Show and PEI On The Move March 9th through 11th. The unique two-in-one showcase of home products and leisure activities attracted crowds of visitors from across the Island and beyond.

“It was a stormy start to the weekend, so we were very pleased with attendance on Friday and with the overall increase in this year’s turnout,” said Senior Show Manager Denise Miller. “Exhibitors reported that visitors were engaged and ready to buy. People were planning to build, buy or renovate and many solid leads were gathered and actual sales were made on the show floor! We are already booking exhibit space for next year and it will surely be a sell-out again.”

The following lucky winners took home door prizes at the show:

  • Donna MacKinnon won an $800 Island Grown Sod and Landscaping Certificate
  • Jane Steward  won a Sherwood Timber Mart Lock Set
  • Melissa Godfrey won a Centennial Auto Service Credit
  • John Rix won a Grand Design Cutting Board
  • Tom Tessier won a Quartermaster Boating Safety Kit
  • and Susan Hughes won two Adirondack Chairs from Leading Edge Homes!

A longstanding supporter of the PEI Provincial Home Show, CBC PEI was at the show with live broadcasting throughout the weekend from a variety of CBC personalities. In addition, sponsor Special Olympics PEI was at the show and fundraised a grand total of $4,700.

“This year’s Home Show was a phenomenal success for us,” said Sarah Profitt, Special Olympics PEI Membership Services Coordinator. “Thank you for helping to enrich the lives of Islanders with an intellectual disability through sport. Funds raised through the PEI Provincial Home Show will help provide our athletes with access to high quality sport programs, both recreational and competitive, in communities across the province.”

Other generous sponsors of the show include Xplornet, Crime Stoppers, and That Home Magazine.

“We really want to thank everyone who came out to both shows,” adds Brian McKiel, Show Manager. “This third edition of PEI On The Move was very well received. New additions in the sporting and ATV section were a hit, and we’re happy to see the show continue to grow!”
