Moncton, NB – A wide variety of Mechanical and Electrical industry professionals filled the Moncton Coliseum Complex last Wednesday and Thursday May 2 and 3 for MEET 2018 (the Mechanical Electrical Electronic Technology Show).

A total of 6,202 attendees walked the floor at this biennial event, which is the second largest industry event of its type in Canada and the largest trade event east of Montreal.

“This edition of the MEET Show was a success by all measures,” said Shawn Murphy, Show Manager. “We saw professionals from all across Canada and the United States showcase the latest in building technology – from robots to heating units and smart home innovations, there was a lot to take in over the course of two days. We are hearing lots of positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike.”

On the evening of Wednesday May 2, the show hosted a sold-out Industry Dinner at the Delta Beauséjour with over 400 guests. At the dinner, a special ‘MEET Show Recognition Award’ was presented to Mike Patterson, Chair of the MEET Committee and longtime supporter of the event. The presentation was met with a standing ovation and led into an entertaining performance from comedian Derek Seguin.

“It’s pleasing that I was able to contribute and be recognized. I’ve been at it for a number of years and I always enjoy being part of the event,” said Patterson about his win. He added about this year’s show on the whole: “I was very pleased with the show this year. The crowds looked good and I’ve had a lot of great comments from exhibitors as well.”

MEET serves as a comprehensive marketplace for industry professionals and is more than just a trade show; it also includes a strong educational component with a topical seminar series offered by the four sponsoring associations: Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH), Electro-Federation Canada (EFC), Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and Atlantic Canada Mechanical Exhibitors (ACME). The seminars were especially popular during the show, attracting over 200 visitors in total. The seminars also counted toward informal education for various professional associations.

For the second time, the MEET show included a passport program where show visitors had a chance to win cash prizes. Passport ballots were available leading up to the show at participating Atlantic Canadian distributor branches including Bird Stairs, Crane Supply, Eddy Group, EMCO, Graybar Canada, Guillevin Atlantic, Island Distributors, Kerr Controls, McLoughlan Supplies, Northeast Equipment, Rexel Atlantic, Rogers Electrical, Source Atlantic, Wesco, and Wolseley.

Two lucky show visitors and two salespeople each won a cash prize, generously donated by the program’s sponsors:
